Why do 100k WSTR (2 of them!), WSRV, and WUBL need translators?

I couldn't agree more. 100k flamethrowers shouldn't have them. Granted being in the northeast we tap out at 50k but having just driven up from Atlanta this weekend and taken a few stations essentially into SC, the concept seems ridiculous IMHO.

Star 94 HD2 is about a minute delay of HD1 and WQXI is on HD3. I am not sure how 94.5 is getting its signal but it has to be from another station over the airwaves because 94.5 is a commercial frequency and can only fill holes of a full power signal and must carry either an HD subcannel the main analog station or off the air from another signal. 94.5 can not be satellite fed so i would assume star 94 hd 2 will change to feed this translator. I know WVFJ has said they are working to get a signal in downtown Atlanta and it would have to be on a subchannel of some intown signal and WSTR HD2 would be perfect for VFJ to expand atlanta converager.

I can understand if they are rebroadcasting an HD subchannel, but that wasn't listed in the OP nor have I heard anything being promoted on those signals (like the WGST translator with the Hugh Jass null in the NE quadrant).

FM translators do nothing but clutter up the dial. It makes DXing FM a joke.

Why Does WWWQ need translators?  BTW, the translators for Star are not correct, they maybe on the FCC database but Star does not even broadcast its HD channels on either translator.

Translators are a joke, it says that HD in not viable.

WWWQ-HD2 is 99X(@98.9), WWWQ-HD3 is Journey(@97.9).

Translators are another example of the FCC not seeing the forest from the trees.  The FCC established translators to help stations with poor coverage in certain areas.  They weren't really intended to give broadcasters an additional FM station.

Translators give us more variety, so I like it. We wouldn't have Spanish CHR or Alternative or 80s hits without translators.

92.3 - Conservative Talk
93.5 - What happened to this one? It could become Smooth Jazz?
93.7 - Sports Talk
94.5 - Christian AC
96.5 - Spanish CHR
97.9 - 80s-90s Oldies
98.9 - Alternative
100.9 - Christian AC
101.1 - Regional Mexican
102.9 - Urban
