"The Fox" in the Newberg/Middletown NY market (and formerly on 96.7 in the Pocono Region) is an Adult Contemporary radio station that uses Cumulus's "Hits and Favorites" satellite feed. I really like the format. They play a few good songs from today (minus the lady gaga and kesha) along with great classics from the 80s and 90s. I'm hoping this is the format taken up as I don't hear Celine Dion, Backstreet Boys, Tina Turner, ect played on any Philadelphia radio station.
I like the HD2 format of the station you mentioned ;-)
I think this will sound almost exactly the same as the 106.9 The Fox in Virginia Beach (which does make its way up here on tropo many times in the summer). Since Walter Sabo's gone, they won't repeat the disaster of 101.9 and 101.1 FM New. They will really need to build their audience, since they won't have many existing listeners from Family Radio. Some of RXP's and Q101's former listeners might have stuck around for the news format, but it's doubtful Family Radio's listeners will want real news instead of someone predicting the next doomsday. It's like 106.9 is a brand new signal, and it needs to find an audience. Merlin needs to advertise 106.9 more than Family Radio advertised 106.9 last year at this time.
