New CNN Hires at Cumulus Atlanta
« on: April 26, 2012, 05:35:15 PM »

Rodney Ho, our friend at the AJC posted today ( here]) that Cumulus hired former CNN Staffers here is his inside list:

Greg Black
Maria Boynton
Andy Rose
Andy Flick,
Michelle Wright
Jackie Howard.

It would only make sense that they would be working in Atlanta, presumably for "News & Information 106.7".  Also, Rodney notes that WYAY staff will have a meeting on Friday (tomorrow). Lets just say that I am excited.

Everybody says they hate Cumulus. Well, they did just launch an almost perfect All-News station in the ATL. Now that takes some skill. #GoMcVayAndDickey

Alright, developments:

Pittsburg's KDKA's PD Marshall Adams is "working on a new project."

I heard from an inside source at WYAY that the meeting was supposed to happen later today, and they were told through a rumor that they might be packing their things together today.  So, I guess this means that the old CitadelATL studios will be used as theirs and the presumed newsroom.  I predict they will go ABC News.  We'll see!

I thought I heard Tripp West broadcasting from Disney World this AM.  I wonder if he has a return ticket to Atlanta or does he have to hitchhike?

Maybe he'll stay and interview with some Orlando stations.

You know something's up when our friends at 750 (and NOW at 95.5) are promoting, "WSB ... the only station that has the resources to give you the best coverage..." (or something like that). The average listener wouldn't care about WSB's resources unless there was a different news source (with different resources) coming to Cox territory.

And why have I heard no mention of CBS on WSB's morning news lately? Is CBS no longer a WSB resource?

UPDATE: I just read the other thread about WYAY all news, so something was up, and my comment was a little late. However, my question about CBS still remains (unless I catch the answer on another thread also  Cheesy)

Cumulus would brand their all-news stations as the "News and Information" station after their flagship all-news and weekend talk station KGO in SFO.
