Star 94 HD changes and more
« on: April 11, 2012, 06:40:45 AM »

I have been sampling my HD radio every few days to see if i could get a clue as what Star 94 plans on doing with 94.5fm. I just tried and noticed that the Zone has moved to HD2 and that some station calling itself the Spirit 94.5 airing on HD3 with a Christian AC music mix. 94.5 had been airing the national Freedom Radio Fm feed that its previous owner uses on its translators nationwide.
I cant image why Star is doing this, its not a format hole.

I think Roddy was speculating on this.  94.5 is only licensed to simulcast, so the owner has to LMA 94.1 HD3 from LFM in order to launch a new format.

That would be true if a separate entity was LMAing 94.5.  They would need a main signal to "translate."  But if 790 used the translator, they would not need an HD signal to duplicate; they would just duplicate 790 AM.

Coming home from work tonight i noticed that 94.5 is simlucasting the main Star 94 feed. At home i checked out my HD radio and found that Spirit 94.5 is still on HD3. Some thing must have went out at the 94.5 site that is keeping them from getting the hd3 feed.
