I can't always tell on these boards who IS in radio, USED to be in radio, or just WANTED to be in radio. Sometimes the source of a perspective is a giveaway.

But this sad loss is a reminder that for some, the boards are a source of companionship and a chance to reach out and hear back from people especially in a world that sometimes reminds us all of our friends are as busy as us.  Emails and board postings should be the way life is.

I didn't know Neil. It took me a while to figure out he didn't take himself as seriously as on first impression, it seemed.  But what a tribute to each of you that took time to know him, be his friend, and be there for him as he knew the end was near.

Even in times of opinions and disagreements, some of the nicest people I've read about, have been the people on this board. I hate to admit it but at times I think the board posters have more heart, soul, and love for the business and many who are in the business...

Now, knowing this, I'll miss his remarks as well because he always cared about radio.

And believe me, for all his fasination with the station on 92.9? He's REALLY have grieved had he lived here when 92.9 was a CHR station called Z93 that topped the Atlanta ratings and brought the kind of excitement few stations anywhere, every did.

For years, I didn't realize that Neil Millman was his actual name, and assumed it was a jokey moniker related to his interest in being PD of Dave.

But I can't believe no one has yet asked:

How does this affect Q100?

/Couldn't resist.  RIP, Neil.

Neil's first concern right now would be for Kate McCarthy.  And he tolerated my endless B98.5 obsession and jokes.  And you think it's bad here on the message board ...

Miss you Neil.

His funeral today was touching. Rabbi Heller snuck in Elvis Costello song titles and Monty Python references in his eulogy. As we shoveled dirt into his grave, the Beach Boys' "Pet Sounds" played, per Neil's request. Caller10, me and his radio inspiration Mara Davis repped Radio-info for all of you. You can write a memorial to him directly here:

Frick!! Just heard the news and I will miss his whimsical commentary...whenever I hear Dave FM I will think of the man who should have been the PD.

I'm sorry to hear of this news.  I am the same age and it's hard to compute.   Damn cancer.   My daughter just went through a year of chemo (she's okay now).   Lots of fun at the age of three.  I know someone else who passed of cancer at 45 just yesterday.

Enjoyed reading Neil's posts.  I wish peace to his family.
