s believed to be Santos’s preference as his eventual successor.
Is the Globe this dumb? Who cares who's Gil's preference: Who does Kraft want?

     Hope Gil feels better soon!

Media people...radio, TV, newspapers...generally look at their careers as a sort of womb-to-the-tomb job entitlement program. Santos is a good enough guy, but it's time to let some other media 'lifer' assume the role. From Tanguay right on down the list, you have people cemented into 'media' to a point where you wonder whether any of them could do anything else with their lives.

This is actually the exact opposite of what media people, amongst the most insecure folks on the planet, really think. The running joke in the radio and TV business is that you can'consider yourself a 'veteran' until you've been fired 4 times.
You reached the tipping point a long time ago in having your jaundiced, un- and mis- informed, view of the media profession prevent you from ever posting anything worthwhile, or even sensible, on this topic. You just keep doubling down on nonsense. I think you dislike these folks mostly because they do something you think is more interesting than what you do.

. From Tanguay right on down the list, you have people cemented into 'media' to a point where you wonder whether any of them could do anything else with their lives.

I can well imagine that my plumber and electrician may well feel that same way about the trades they're 'cemented' into.  Why do you find it strange that people who have chosen something they like as a profession would like to keep doing it?

TSB

It's going to be strange not hearing Gil and Gino next season. Zo did a good job, though. He clearly improved over the course of the season. I really hope it's not Tanguay.

I've seen Tanguay's name mentioned as a replacment for Gil Santos on several boards.  Why?  Nothing against Tanguay, but I remember him going back to his days in Worcester and I'm not aware of any play by play experience on Tanguay's part.  Play-by-play for the N.E. Patriots is a pretty high starting point for a pbp career.

What does Dave O'Brien do during football season?  Wouldn't this be a nice slot for Sean McDonagh?

Too bad about Gil.  He was always one of my favorites.

What did Dale get with new EEI contract? He could have been Gil's replacement.
