Bad Radio "The Alan Stock Show"
« on: May 15, 2012, 11:21:12 PM »

Hello all

KDWN is the flamethrower here in southern Nevada. So I usually have my clock radio set at 5:30AM.
I loved Heidi when she was on, but I haven't quite given up on KDWN yet. So on to the story and my opinion.

This morning at about 6:25AM during the second segment of "the Alan Stock Show" the dialog between Alan Stock and Michael Gowdey went something like this:
(Paraphrased)

Alan: "You [Michael G] should feel guilty that you haven't served your country in the military."
(10 seconds of dead air)
Alan: "What are you doing?"
(more dead air)

Apparently Michael Gowdey walked out of the studio during the show. If I had a strong differing opinion, I would have too. He gives conservatives a bad image. Maybe that's the point! Shocked
He tows the Obama bashing line and has no ideas of his own. His obstinate, defiant attitude and his voice and speaking style make it almost un-listenable. Sad

Maybe the only reason I listen to it is because it is KDWN and I as a listener have become loyal of their layout, news, and syndicated shows. We need Heidi back on the air. Ed Stolz would be smart to have Heidi on 790AM. Instant listeners and ratings for a peanut station.

Time for the Irony.
Beasley sold KBET to Ed. He should get KDWN's morning star, Heidi.
Alan earned his "One of the Most Influential Talk Shows in America" while at KXNT with Heidi. Roll Eyes
KDWN on the weekend sounds like KSHP1400. LOLZZZZ selling stuff. Grin Cheezy for sure. Nothing agianst 1400, I like them.

I think that Heidi is on an LA station, so if it is "Southern California talk" it won't work here, unless it is going to be syndicated nationally???

The liberal-conservative talk format has to be done right to work.  I heard the Curtis and Kouby Show in NYC  and it seems to work.  They agreed to disagree and I think the liked each other.

Hannity and Combs worked because they did interviews by themselves and had a tongue in cheek style.

Stock seems too combative with the other guy.  Most people (including both the presidential candidates this time around) haven't served in the military.  I guess Savage, Dennis Miller and Jerry Doyle did not serve in the military....also heard on kdwn.  (Unless Jerry Doyle doing the "Battleship Galactica" counts?)

Stock complains too much about his former station and is too angry for my tastes.  Lighten-up its Vegas!

Amen to that! Wink
He doesn't seem to cover the local news. I want light, local news and commentary.

The movie and entertainment segments on Friday are good.  A little Hollywood/Vegas gossip is OK as well.
