I agree with your comment about Leykis on KFI. THAT was must-listen radio. He was what should've been the prototype for young-oriented FM Talk when it was first delved into over 20 years ago.
He was the best example of how current events can be discussed in a more entertaining and passionate way, without harping on politics all day long. He was everything great about talkradio.
I don't, however, believe that his departure from KFI was all about ideology as much as it was about an ego clash with then-PD David G. Hall. Hall admitted years afterward that he regretted that move.
By the way...can we come up with another word than "compelling" when describing good content? It has "consultant" written all over it.
