Dick Clark Tribute
« on: April 20, 2012, 03:42:53 PM »

Did any station in this area do anything as a tribute to Dick Clark?  Better yet, would anyone even remember who Dick Clark is if they did something?

he was a great presenter...and uniter of races to dance together.  other than that he was no more than an average presenter on the radio and tv that had his right place right time like we all do.

The obvious station to have done something is SOX. Those who remember the Oldies 96.1 days may remember Dick actually did the stations legal ID. But asleep at the wheel once again..no surprise.

I did a tribute in Lewistown on WKVA.  Did clips from several tributes from other celebs & artists gleaned from TV talk shows (thanks to our show prep material).  Ended the piece with Barry Manilow's "Bandstand Boogie" from 1975.  It was about 15-20 min. long.

Those who were going to pay tribute did so.

Any who are still planning to pay tribute should make certain that he is not placed in a subordinate position in any manner to those who came after him in their own venues.  People with a sense of appropriateness, class and dignity would obviously know that.

www.oldiesradio1620.com ran a few tributes to Dick Clark this weekend (4/28-29), shows like Dave The Rave, The Vault, The Hits of Yesteryear and Sunday Night Trivia.  It was nice to read that WKVA also did something.  Guess the brains at any of the other stations felt it wasn't necessary to run anything.  Now I know why I don't listen to anything around here!

American Top 40 the 70's will be doing an episode that Dick Clark did as a fill in host this weekend. I don't know what station in your area carries it.
