DICK CLARK'S ROCK ROLL AND REMEMBER
« on: April 21, 2012, 10:23:28 AM »

This show, as I recall, was a Sunday Morning Staple on WCBS-FM in the 1980's.  I think I also heard this show on CKLW in Windsor/Detroit on a weeknight!  Anyone know the history behind this show (as well as the other show I posted) courtesy of The United Stations Radio Network?  Post your comments and other information (just like the other subject I posted) right now.  LONG LIVE THE LEGEND OF DICK CLARK!

I know WMMM-AM in Westport, CT use to air this as well. Obviously before the advent of CDs, it was delivered on vinyl.

I was never able to procure any of them before they were returned or discarded but I ended up with a few copies of "Motor City Beat" hosted by Bill Rock, a voice of NBC network promo's as well as other nationally heard venues.

...at WXOL/690 Oshkosh WI we were running the show on Saturday mornings in 1993-94; I was the board-op for the last part of its run there, before the station went silent in 1994. As I was driving my belongings in a U-Haul truck from La Crosse to Phoenix on Thanksgiving Weekend of 2007, I was amazed to hear the show still running on a local or regional FM station as I was scanning the radio while pulling into Clayton NM that Saturday night; obviously, since it was about three years after Clark's first stroke, they were using years-old (decades-old?) voice tracks...

The show has been "repurposed" as "Dick Clark presents Rewind with Gary Bryan:.  Doesn't quite roll of the tongue, does it?  It is more 70's friendly to keep up with the oldies/classic hits stations' trends.  It runs on our local AM station in Buffalo, MN, on Saturdays.  Sadly I missed it the last weekend to see if Clark's passing was mentioned.

It still shows up on United Stations's site and they state it will still be provided.

WIFE, Superoldies 1580, carries Both Rock, Roll and Remember on Sunday afternoons, and Rewind on Monday nights.....They are indeed two different shows.

On the replays of the American Top 40, the 70s, the episode being featured this weekend is the one where Dick Clark is filling in for Casey.  I think this was the only time he subbed for Kasem.  It's quite an interesting program.
