SAME TV CALLS, EXCEPT ONE IS WITH A "W" AND THE OTHER WITH A "K"
« on: April 22, 2012, 11:11:53 PM »

Let's see where this takes us.............go as deep with info as you want/can

example:
WALB Albany, GA (10 NBC) 10.2 ABC, Raycom
KALB Alexandria LA (5 NBC) 5.2 CBS, Hoak Media Corp.

WNBC New York (4 NBC), 4.2 NY Nonstop, NBC Universal
KNBC Los Angeles (4 NBC), 4.2 California Nonstop, NBC Universal

Now those stations are dead and should not be mentioned again.
Big "fickle finger of fate" award goes to whomever has the longest list!

By distance, the best example of this is Louisiana Public Broadcasting. Their network has both KLPB-TV (PBS) channel 23 in Lafayette and WLPB-TV (PBS) channel 25 in Baton Rouge. I don't think you're going to get that anywhere else.

I'm not aware of any Connecticut call letters anywhere out west...well almost. There is KHPX-CA (CW) channel 28 of Georgetown, TX (I think it rebroadcasts a station from Austin). Here, we have WHPX-TV (ION) channel 26 of New London.

At the risk of detouring the thread, I know of a single tower that carries both Kxxx and Wxxx under the same ownership...but that's FM and not TV.

Is it really possible nobody's mentioned a couple of public TV "twins"?

KQED-TV 9 San Francisco
WQED-TV 13, Pittsburgh

KCET 28 Los Angeles
WCET 48 Cincinnati

Also...

WPVI 6 Philadelphia
KPVI 6 Pocatello, ID

KNIN 9 Boise

WKTV 2 Utica
KKTV 11 Colorado Springs

WCTV 6 Tallahassee
KCTV 5 Kansas City

WFLA-TV ch.8, Tampa (NBC)
KFLA-LD ch.8 Los Angeles
AND
CFLA-TV ch.8 Goose Bay, Newfoundland (CBC)

How's this for a "two-fer": WTWO in Terre Haute and KTWO in Casper.
