Yes, this board has become sleepy in the last year or so. Part of the problem is the Clear Channel (and other owners) philosophy that has taken hold in Syracuse & Utica. Laying off jocks, and support staff, voice tracking, has homogenized both markets. There just isn't that much to write about anymore.
Agreed. It's hard for people to trade barbs like they used to, when those people have either been replaced by automation, or for the survivors, what little free time they had has been gobbled up by picking up the slack left behind by those who've been replaced by automation.
But there are still big stories every so often. They aren't as often or as shocking as they used to be, but I would keep the board open. It's not like the bulletin board software is charging the site by the board. Doesn't hurt anyone to keep it going, even if isn't always as active as it used to be.
Personally, I've found that there's plenty of local broadcasting chatter on syracuse.com and topix.com, but most of the threads there are just petty name-calling and other unfounded trash. Although this board may have become "sleepy" by comparison, most of the posts here lately are worthwhile. There might not be something new here
every day, but when there is, you know it'll usually be something useful.
