Rizzo On The Radio?
« on: April 26, 2012, 05:46:08 AM »

The son of former Philadelphia Mayor Frank Rizzo is hopeful that tonight's sub stint on WPHT leads to a permanent timeslot on the station (incidentally, afternoon drive on Talk Radio 1210 will be vacant in a few weeks).

Correction. He's unaffiliated after he quit the Republican party. Kinda like Smerconish.

That was part of the downfall of WCAU-AM.  They brought in his Dad for the afternoons, paid him $75K.

Not long after they were going broke and had to switch to WOGL-AM and play oldies in order to be profitable again.  And yes, music on AM in the early 90's was bringing in more money than their talk brought in - profit-wise.

If they could dig up the old Rizzo and give him another show, then I would be very interested.

If they're going to dig up an old talk show host, IMHO, it should be Evil Irv.  Lips sealed

How about Dominic Quinn?  After 1210 switched to oldies in the 90's, Dominic Quinn returned to WWDB and described WOGL-AM as a station playing "vaporized Rock & Roll and that a monkey could spin records."  He had a nice command of the English language.  LOL

Wasn't Dominic Quinn great? I miss that guy, used to listen to him Sunday mornings on 'DB. It was a sad day in 1996 when he passed away. Smerconish called him the Mighty Quinn.
