Isn't WMMR a little less power on One Liberty vs their now backup transmitter on PSFS due to more height?  They were 29Kw on PSFS when they broadcast from PSFS.  They're 16.5Kw on One Liberty and I guess the back-up is down to 25Kw.  Remember the 29 thousand watt flame thrower promo? and the station that reaches the beaches and rules the pools promo?
I always thought they were referring to Island Park and Long Beach Island up to Pt. Pleasant with that Promo.

Since 94.1 was blasted from WNYC at 93.9 and WJLK on 94.3 to the North, I figured it was a cut on WYSP.

It might have been just cool to say, too.

You could get them down in Atlantic County and parts of Cape May County too.  I could listen to WMMR on the beach in Ocean City, NJ on my Walkman when I was a child.  There is a 93.1 down in Cape May County that went on the air sometime in the '90s that makes it hard to get but, now I can get them anywhere at the Shore with my iPhone and the wmmr app.
For the most part, Philly doesn't consider the shore anything above Atlantic County.  Anything above that has New Yorkers.
Even though the signal went South of the area I specified, I figured the area South was in the Atlantic City market and since they had their own stations, WMMR was looking North of AC.

Either way, it wasn't meant to be specific - on purpose.

Dad used to listen to MMR back then in the car so he had it on a lot.

When I returned to New Jersey, in 1979, I "found" I was more appreciative of WMMR than before I had left for California. I thought WMMR sounded so much like KMET. I learned, very quickly, it was just the other way around.

Over the years, my tastes in music have changed, of course, but when I travel back to New Jersey, WMMR is one of those stations I make sure to check out first.

It continues to be the station I think of first on "93-3".

Why don't you just check them out online?  They stream everything but the commercials.  Preston & Steve are streaming right now.

I have to admit, I'm one of those people who feel the experience is lacking something online, besides the commercials. And the commercials are part of the radio experience, too.

But I stream The Jesus Christ Show from KFI every Sunday morning, so there is hope for me. Smiley

I should have added "radio" hope. Not to be confused with spiritual hope.

I think WMMR and KMET were owned by the same company...Metromedia Radio.

And so was WNEW-FM (the one that was in NYC).
