WLIL Country?
« on: April 26, 2012, 06:28:31 PM »

As I was listening across the AM band this afternoon I heard WLIL playing the Black Crows around 3pm. Has Stormin Norman blown a CPU or are the Black crows now listed as classic country?
Also on the AM band WKVL had a talk show on talking about weather with Bob Becker and someone else, I did not catch her name and didn't stay on the station long enough to hear what it was all about. I did notice that WKVL now has local news, They have signed up with the Virtual News Center for those newscasts. I have been aware of this service for a while and it gives them some decent local news coverage.

The imaging is tacky, largely because it is no doubt ignored by its own cluster, but AM 1040 (Journal) is at least consistent in its music programming (satellite fed). The more that WKVL becomes an outlier and cluttered, and the more WLIL changes, the more I find myself listening to 1040 when I get the urge for classic country.

Morristown has a good classic station at WMTN, now owned by WCRK.

Fowler's Furniture is advertising a going out of business sale on TV.  Is this all his furniture stores or just the one on Peters Road?  What does this mean for WLIL since Fowler owns it and has the studios in one of his furniture stores???

Fowler's is only closing the west Knoxville store. The WLIL studios are located at the old outlet center off of Watt Rd. I think it's a flea market now but I'm not sure. WMTN is a good one but you can't get it well in Knoxville. I too listen to 1040 occasionally to get my fill of country classics.

Not sure about the Black Crowes. Sure you were listening to WLIL??...Not even in the system. Probably Cindy Jo breaking format....You can't fire the boss' daughter... I did play Squeezebox by The Who a couple times, and a couple other select junkets here and there just for fun...GM jumped me over it though!! LOL!
