Everybody says they hate Cumulus. Well, they did just launch an almost perfect All-News station in the ATL. Now that takes some skill. #GoMcVayAndDickey

Atlanta's "first" all news station? Dave forgot about WGST and WCNN but then, memories of radio two decades ago are growing faint.

Why announce it this far in advance?  I would think that would be something you announced on Friday for a Monday flip.  And isn't WCBS a news/talk station?

No, all news except when they air broadcasts of football games.

My question is will they be an Atlanta-Athens news hybrid because of its signal range, kind of like WNEW in Wash. D.C.: http://radio-locator.com/pats/WYAY_FM_LU.gif

I think it would work!

And, eventually it will be streamed on iHeartRadio.  Like all Cumulus stations will start doing next month.  I think Randy and Spiff had something to do with this back in October.  Maybe Cumulus had a plan from the beginning.  Interesting!

With Cumulus killing their Journey stations in Pensacola and Cincy, the only Journey stations left I can find are Huntsville and 97.9.  I could easily see AGH moving to 97.9.  Maybe that's why they pushed the flip out until mid-May--maybe AGH will begin simuling on 97.9 in anticipation of the flip.

As a former alum of 106.7, I'd like to say I think this will be good for Atlanta radio.  When you stir the pot things change, usually for the better.  RIP Wide 106.

Hmmm...wonder what the last song will be?

I still don't see this being able to compete with WSB but it is an interesting development.

I wonder if they'll set up a Cumulus national news radio network here at the HQ in Atlanta, and then feed it to other markets for national news and then set up smaller local news bureaus. Maybe they tie-in with a local TV news operation.

I was thinking 11 Alive and possibly and ABC News affiliation, since it is in-house and Cumulus owned.
