Just in case, here are a couple of other stations with both morning and afternoon news blocks...
WIBC - Indianapolis
WHAM - Rochester
And, while it's nowhere as news-heavy as its sister in Raleigh/Durham (WPTF), Greensboro/Winston-Salem's WSJS does have a significant amount of news during the day (morning drive, plus an hour at noon and an hour in the evening).
Ironically enough, it looks like at least a couple of Cox-owned Talk stations that happen to not be WSB currently have a short (one-hour) afternoon/evening news block: Orlando's WDBO and Tulsa's KRMG.
Why do these stations in Pitt and Philly begin with a K?

KYW, KDKA, and KQV happen to be among the very few cases of grandfathered call signs east of the Mississippi that start with a K. They're old enough that they were issued before the "K in the West; W in the East" delineation was made official. (There are a lot more examples of grandfathered call signs west of the Mississippi that start with a W.)
