Typical Entercom getting rid of Kevin Brown. Age?  Cheapness?
Also AFTRA again folds like a cheap card table to Entercom. They let the KOIT staff down and did the same for the KBLX Personalities.

Its not really a shock to me. Entercom has been making cuts for years on most of its stations. Still something to wait and see what they will do with KBLX

KBLX was the only urban Ac station left to maintain local programming 24/7 while the majority of its counterparts were taken over by Tom Joyner (KISQ carried him once), Michael Baisden, Steve Harvey and Keith Sweat.  Only a handful carry Doug Banks in the PM drive; at least comedian Monique ran her syndicated show for six months in 2009 ON Radio one stations that did not carrY Basiden.

Well...syndicated morning shows don't work in the Bay Area unless they do...sometimes.  Howard Stern worked.  Steve Harvey is very popular in the African-American community, does stand-up, sells a line of suits, and has a hit movie out.

Ironically perhaps, his morning show is carried by former sister station WBLS in New York, which (if the website is up-to-date) is still owned by Inner-City.

WBLS is now owned by YMF Media.  They are merging with Emmis' WRKS (98.7 KISS-FM).  Emmis is leasing 98.7 FM to ESPN starting Monday. Smiley

Under ICBC-turned-YMF ownership also, WWDM also has Steve Harvey as well, but WKXI has Tom Joyner.  In the case of Entercom, WQMG has Joyner while WVKL has Harvey, and I can't find if WWWS is all local or not.
How Harvey can reach the unique Bay Area audience has yet to be seen; he didn't last too long in Orlando or Kansas City.

I doubt it will last.  The demographics in the Bay Area are not conductive for this show to survive, and in a way I see it as a way for Entercom that ruin and kill this station.  It would make sense because why wouldn't they just play the 'wait and see' mode on the cash flow of the station for a quarter or two prior to make any changes.
