DEL COLLIANNO on KGO AND CUMULUS - "TRICKY DICKEY" and "KGO - AN ABORTION"
« on: June 16, 2012, 02:39:03 AM »

COLLIANNO IS ABSOLUTELY correct (as he always is) with his recent comments on KGO's horrible ratings (an abortion) and on Lew Dickey, anyone have the full text ?

Cumulus does not even care about KGO Ratings ! They don't listen to their listeners who are hollering at them directly to return the fired hosts, and on numerous internet forums!  Mostly under Cumulus' watch, KGO has dropped from #1 to #23 in the Bay Area.

Lew Dickey and Cumulus are talking out of both sides of their mouth.

COLLIANNO IS ABSOLUTELY correct [....]

Who?  Is that some blogger somewhere?  Why are his observations any better than anyone else's?

Maybe KGO-AM got the audience they wanted with the new weekend hosts and the weekday 17-hour news blocks. But overall KGO-AM has stabilized for a few months.

Jerry is and long has been, someone who has a burr up his butt about Cumulus and the Dickeys. I usually gloss over JDC when he gets to the Cumulus stuff, because he gets irrational. I've seen him miss more often than hit.

This is not in defense of Cumulus (I don't like them either) but rather a comment that I don't find JDC credible on the topic.

What Jerry doesn't say is that their fall from #1 began while all the talk hosts were still there.  The writing was on the wall.  Ratings were dropping, as was the revenue.  Only a matter of time before they had to clean house.

Any on-air person will tell you: You're only as good as your last book.  Doesn't matter how long you've been there.  Your salary is based on the ratings and revenue you deliver.  Once that starts to decline, only one real option.
