Pittman cluster sinking in Lafayette???
« on: April 29, 2012, 10:24:21 PM »

Here's the scorecard.....

105.9 KFXZ Silent Off-Air for at least a week now
106.3 KYMK Silent On-Air Carrier only for close to a month
1330 KVOL On Air but with long patches of dead air during syndicated programming.
1520 KFXZ Silent On Air Carrier only for months now.

Anyone have the inside scoop on whats really going on over there?Huh What about their northshore stations? Are they on-air?

Thinking about the offer someone had on a station in southeast Louisiana mentioned on here leads me to beleive it is someone on the northshore (as every place I can think of on the south shore has had a station change hands in 10 years or less)

But yeah wonder if fcc may be paying a visit soon if no legal ids being played etc

They have started the FCC paperwork for an STA:

http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/sta_list.pl?Facility_id=11605

I forgot, if your station has an STA for silence (can / how) do you renew the license?  It looks like they renew on 06/01/12

You can renew as long as you are on the air or have a sta allowing to be off. Usually as long as you put power to it id on the top of the hour for a few days then go back silent with a sta, some stations have pulled that stunt for multiple years without loosing the license...

Keep in mind they have the KYMK 106.3 transmitter on from the Chase building downtown, just no programming, no TOH legals, EAS alerts ect ect. KFXZ 105.9 is gone, no carrier. Both stations Facebook pages have been pulled down. Ironically KFXZ's stream is still up. Its looking like the sun is setting on the Lafayette Pittman cluster. Between moving their studios all of a sudden, to having KYMK evicted from its tower in Leroy its sad to see the stations go down the tubes in such a manner......

These stations would make nice additions to the Crowley cluster.  An FM outlet for KSIG via 106.3 (KYBG tower maybe?)  and 105.9 to compliment Bayou 106.7 for better coverage into Evangeline and St.  Landry parishes.

Update:
Both AM's and 105.9 were on with usual programming yesterday.  No sign of 106.3.

I heard a rumor that Cumulus in Lafayette is flipping 93.7 to talk, taking on 1330's lineup of Glenn Beck, Laura Ingram and Michael Savage.  If it's true that would be cool.....

So if Glenn, Laura and Michael go to 93.7, what is KVOL AM going to program?  Oh yeah, a dead carrier,  just like now.    Cheesy
