Although I'm a much more Alternative leaning listener than MMR caters to I have to agree with you. I stumbled across MMR in '78 and it's been a permanent setting ever since. YSP never came close to being as good as MMR and after CBS got its claws on it YSP was an audio embarassment. I won't even go into my opinion of Stern and his affect on FM. HAPPY BIRTHDAY WMMR you STILL ROCK Phhhiiiiilllaaaadelphia....and surrounding areas....PS I hope the CBS Radio travesty will someday come to an untimely, and none too soon, screeching halt.
Unfortunately, any screeching halt is too late for: WYSP, WNEW, WBCN, WPBZ, WBUF, WKRK (DET), WKRK (CLE), WXRK (TWICE), and others. KITS is mixing dance and CHR into their playlist, just like they did with WPBZ before they flipped it to CHR. KROQ is duking it out with KYSR, who is taking a huge bite out of KROQ's ass! Someone said KROQ is 7th highest biller so they are safe. I don't think so. WRXP was consistently in the top 25 billings, with a 2.6 in the City and cracking the 3s in the suburbs, slowly and steadily trending upwards, with an exclusive format . That didn't stop some Einstein from blowing it up and replacing it with expensive, redundant programming that garners 1/4 of WRXPs numbers.
