New PD at KHMX

Thanks for the comment about the early days of Mix. I was there in those days even though I was p/t. It was good. I'd like to hear that kind of creative radio in Houston again. I absolutely loved being part of it.

Seems like I remember them playing Boston and Steve Miller along with the hit-makers of the day like Madonna, Spice Girls and Sugar Ray?? Is that the station I'm remembering??

In the major markets like Houston its hard to find stations that play those great songs. Renda Broadcasting, which owns stations in smaller markets like Oklahoma City and Pittsburgh has one of the best playlists that I've come across and plays those songs that you guys mentioned! Too bad that company don't own stations here.

Hi Manny, sorry it took so long for me to respond.   For some reason, Bob Neuman keeps landing these sweet PD jobs and ends up destroying the ratings at every station he's been to.   WRMF had him for years and that ratings sunk tremendously.  Since his departure, the station has been #1 for six books in a row.   When he was at WSJT the ratings, again, sunk in less than a year of his service.  So, what does CBS do?  They send him to Houston to ruin another station.  And of course I'm not surprised, KHMX has sunk from a 4.2 to a 3.1 in the most recent book.  Really?  How does this guy keep getting work?   Honestly, I think he has no idea what people want to hear on the radio and his reputation of bad ratings proves it.
