The article implies that this is retaliation by Dish against these channels as the result of a contract lawsuit. As to the claim that "nobody" watches these networks - perhaps it's true of IFC, Sundance, and WE, but I'm not buying that AMC has low viewership. AMC has become one of the top destinations for critically acclaimed and talked-about original drama series, including Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, and Mad Men. I've been thinking about dropping my high-priced Comcast for either DirecTV or Dish. Lack of AMC would rule Dish out for me.

Maybe they've hired Legal Eagles who don't watch ANYTHING beyond C-SPAN & the news channels..... Just a thought (Which admittedly I couldn't resist) Cheers

Dish and Rainbow have had a long, sorta checkered, and clumsy history together. Dates back to Dish's absorption of the VOOM HD channels, then their complete removal, and now this.
EchoStar 12, one of the satellites operating at 61.5°W, is the original VOOM service satellite.

Yes, there always seem to be some legal contractual disagreement with these "intentions to drop". I hardly watch AMC anymore, but I do like IFC.

Why the hell would anyone sub to Dish? They obviously don't give a crap about their subscribers, having dropped or refused to renew or negotiate several channels. As a DirecTV sub, I find it absolutely incredible that anyone would opt for Dish. I've had very few issues with DirecTV over the past 12 years and as of July 1st, I, along with the millions of other DirecTV subs will have all of the channels that Dish is threatening to drop, plus many, many more that Dish does not carry.

Love Direct TV.
Their product is far better than Dish Network.
I say that because they have: (1) A wonderful variety of Programming, (2) Great service when you need it and (3) Fewer interruptions and/or break downs to occur with the equipment.

P.S. My family had Dish back in 2004 but we ditched them, after a year. Had all kinds of issues with them and got tired of it. Hence the reason why we returned to Direct TV and never looked back. Direct TV is the best in the Satellite business. Dish network is a joke indeed. Detest their product and have no future plans of doing business with them.

Tend to agree. I had Dish for about 10 years.....and then switched to DirecTV. More channels, better dish, etc., etc.
A slight drizzle would take out my Dish but it takes a big storm to take out DirecTV.

I guess I jumped in to the "DirecTV Fan Club" thread. I'm sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but DirecTV is starting to be stubborn with programming providers. In the past three years, they went six months without Versus, dropped XM music channels (they were NEVER truthful on why, especially when they own a portion of SiriusXM) and G4, and are now having more disputes with local stations than there were before. Their subscribers are not immune to the possibility of losing one of their favorite networks. Not to mention their customer service is much worse than it was 10 years ago.
Customers of any provider can be caught in the middle of something like this.
