2012 106.7 FORMAT FLIP to ALL NEWS COMPARED TO OTHER FLIPS
« on: May 09, 2012, 07:59:18 AM »

Where do you think this flip rates in comparison to other Atlanta format changes? Bigger, say, than from Lite 94.9 to the Bull. or from Y106 to True Oldies, or from 96 Rock to Project, or 97.1 thru it's Fox to Jamz to River flips? Also, consider if there is a ripple effect of another station going oldies or classic hits, or changes at WSB or WGST in response, how would this flip rate?

I'd venture to guess this is in the top three of the biggest format changes in Atlanta radio, and could take the top spot depending on any ripples. My opinon.

THere we're good flips and there were bad flips.  I say good ones were Jamz to River and Y106 to TOC. Bad flips were Lite to Bull and 96rock to Project. I think WYAY will be a good flip.  It will definitely be historic, in ATL and nationwide.

Everybody says they hate Cumulus. Well, they did just launch an almost perfect All-News station in the ATL. Now that takes some skill. #GoMcVayAndDickey

Sorry I disagree on the 106.7 flip being "historic".  WSB killing / flipping 95.5 The Beat and most of the AM band in North Ga could be considered historic.  IMHO the most raticial flip was WGST 920 am(With the legionary Bobby Harper doing mornings) dropping music and going News Talk.  IIRC They really shook up WSB 750 AM so bad in some of the demos that WSB had to go News Talk too.

As for bad flips / slogans : Planet Radio.
