Terrible. Reminds of Art Lang (Mike Sands).

I believe he was on 'BZ four weeks ago overnight as part of the Bb preview show. I think he's done a lot of freelance stuff for BZ.
He sounded like he knew Steve (who's off) pretty well:  we'll probably hear more with Bradley J who will be filling in.

Yes I think he was 'BQ myself...
meanwhile the article does mention being at WARE

>>News of Mr. Beane's death saddened people who knew him in the small Central Massachusetts communities where people remember him from his early days as a sportscaster at WARE 1250 AM.
Earlier today Mr. Beane filled in at the station in Palmer, doing the morning show from 6 to 9 a.m.
WARE owner and general manager Bruce Marshall said he is devastated by the loss.

“He loved doing local sports,” Mr. Marshall said, adding that Mr. Beane never forgot his roots in local radio. “He loved doing play-by-play for high school football.”

He had been at WARE, had done some V/O work back in the day at WESO/WQVR Southbridge, and did mornings in Willimantic on then WXLS 98.3 FM in the 70's.  He also worked at Metro in the 90's doing sports and at WBZ Radio sometime in the 90's.

A hell of a nice guy.  I don't really know what to say, it's just shocking and sad.  Holland Rd. is only a few miles from where he lived, he's driven that road a million times.

There is word that he may have fallen asleep while driving.  Apparently, after doing the morning show at WARE this morning, he told people there he was heading home to take a nap.  His SUV crossed the double yellow line and hit a wall and a tree.     The crash itself was reported by some golfers at a nearby golf course.    Cry

Don Orsillo just mentioned during the game that Carl suffered a heart attack while driving home.

From the CBS Boston page - news story includes WBZ-AM's Baseball Preview show podcasts from April 2012 and an WBZ-AM interview with Tom Cuddy:

I believe Monkee Davy Jones also suffered a heart attack while he was driving...

Meanwhile, I wonder how Beane's passing was reflected at Fenway (was Wednesday night's game in Boston?)...
