105.7 is live
« on: May 09, 2012, 06:24:29 PM »

I've just noticed that 105.7 in San Antonio is now on the air, simulcasting WOAI.

I think this probably means the end of The Patriot.

WOAI is geting with the 21st Century and finally broadcasting on FM! Bravo.
Now, they need to sell 92.5 to EMF and acquire 97.7 so they can place WOAI on that frequency!!!

Or, put KTKR on 92.5 FM. Then all their AMs will be modernized.
And with 104.9 coming to simulcast 680, they'll get modernized as well, and all of CC's and Cox's AM stations will be with the times. Smiley

Listening to WOAI this morning, the news chic only mentioned the Call Letters at the top of the hour.  Otherwise, no mention of the new frequency.   It very likely they are testing the signal before the launch of the actual format.

I wonder what that format will be and what station it will simulcast. Maybe it'll be a music formatted rebroadcast of an HD2? But I'm not even sure this is happening, maybe WOAI will stay on FM.

More evidence that WOAI is not coming to the FM dial.  Top of the hour id now says, KQXT-HD2 & K289BN

KQXT HD-2 currently is Smooth Jazz.  Does CC move Smooth Jazz to another HD station or is 105.7 set to be Smooth Jazz?  IMO, a new format will land on KQXT HD-2 and will be rebroadcast on 105.7.

Rhythmic AC(KTU Style), Top 40 Dance, Comedy, or Huh??

Wherever the format lands, it will be something to help the cluster.  Same strategy Cox will use with it's translator when they get it going.

It's really too bad WOAI is not coming to FM 105.7. I was looking forward to not using an old AM radio to listen to the Spurs games. They should drop The Patriot and put WOAI on 92.5 IMO.

I've just noticed that KQXT-HD2 is now WOAI, while KQXT-HD3 is now the Smooth Jazz format formerly on KQXT-HD2. Either it will continue that way, or KQXT-HD2 will launch with a new format.

Very interesting.

I still believe KQXT-HD2 will flip to another format.  Perhaps, CC will wait until the Spurs win their fifth title  Grin

My guess is 105.7 goes Rhythmic AC.  It fits the cluster and a format hole in the market.
