I know that when WNEW went live in December, they just did not do much live stuff for the first couple of weeks.  It was all they could handle to just keep the newscast running with copy.  After the first couple of weeks they slowly started adding additional elements to the newscast. The live from the field folks did not happen until a couple of months after go-live.

We actually went live in late January, and we did have live reporters right off the bat.  We did, however, experience some Comrex issues and initial bugs in the field software, so we were limited to phone reports for a bit.  The glitches have mostly resolved themselves, and our reporters are on it now.

The WNEW product sounds very good now.  I notice that new elements keep getting added here and there.   We would all like to know what the ratings are.  It seems CBS is not subscribing to Arbitron yet for WNEW and the public ratings are hidden.

WNEW has been showing up at something like #31.  The main problem is the signal.  It's just too far away from DC.  It's okay in cars but not in buildings or home clock radios.  There had been rumors of a simulcast on another signal with better DC coverage, but 94.7, one of the signals thought to be involved in this, suddenly made a big jump in ratings with its AC format.

I have been flipping over during my commutes to see if they flipped yet. I will listen to whatever the song is on and think if it is good candidate for their final song as if it has some connection to being the last song played on True Oldies.

P.S. Starting to wonder if Great Times and Good Oldies is doing hard time for being obnoxious? Why else has he not appeared on these boards.

Do they have all the tech producers/board ops in place? I'm a former Atlanta radio talent stuck in Houston where there are NO radio jobs available. Wish I'd heard of this much, much sooner.

I was wondering that myself, so I went and looked up his most recent bombs:
Matter of time before Randy And Spiff are on WGUN-AM 1010
Don`t know excatly when it will happen, but it will!!!  Both WGUN and Randy And Spiff need each other.  If promoted correctly, this could be BIG, really BIG!!!  It would be the first time in YEARS that Randy and Spiff are away from CORPORATE fatcat owners.  WGUN can be a GREAT local, live Oldies station!!
Bloodbath at WYAY-FM Fake Oldies 106.7
It is shocking what they did to Randy and Spiff along with the others.  This stations ratings are decresing because they are fuc(ing with the Oldies playlist.  I bet that the True Oldies Channel WILL return on 106.7 before the end of the year.  I also think that Cumbless (new owners os WYAY) will cut the staff even further and bring back the TOC.  It will be much cheaper for them and that is all they care about.  However, the music will be better than it is now.

Isn't it funny how Things Work Out compared to predictions Grin

Everybody says they hate Cumulus. Well, they did just launch an almost perfect All-News station in the ATL. Now that takes some skill. #GoMcVayAndDickey

No, really, I was wondering: What is on WYAY's subchannels - possibly trying out AllNews before going big time?

HD-1 is their main feed. WYAY HD-2 is smooth jazz, pretty good sounding playlist. Commercial free. Hopefully it will remain after their all blah-blah switch. It's about the ONLY HD-2 station that has unique programming. Everyone else just sticks some "one off" of their main programming on there or a simulcast of one of their AM's.
