Appears that the first major change - at least programming-wise - from Chuck Wood, new GM at Delta Media in Carencro, will be to switch KOOL 107.1 (KOGM) from Classic Hits to Sports-talk, effective early June...word is that they'll have FOX Sports in addition to the LSU programming and local high school stuff they already do...
Good idea?

I think that is the best idea in YEARS for that station, even before Delta bought it. That station used to change formats almost every two years, and their latest format was HORRIBLE, a few good oldies here and there, but over-all, bad. Their logo was a joke, their local on air people were a joke, sounded VERY small market, and they had dead air on overnights almost every night. If this Sports format is done right and not programed by the same people that programed it as a Classic Hits station, it will finally get some good ratings in the market. My prediction.

That would be one less station for them to voice track. But in fairness they have an underpaid skeleton crew for all of the stations except for mustang. Chuck will find the bucks to bring in some more decent talent to add sizzle to the properties.

Find the bucks? I doubt it...there are none there - it's up to him to generate the bucks FIRST before he can spend them - thus the problem..the company won't spend money to make money, and just turning on frequency doesn't mean advertisers will line up to spend money...it's a tough situation...

OK, we have 107.1 possibly going to sports talk, and on another post, a rumor that Cumulus is flipping 93.7 to talk with the current KVOL lineup. What do you folks down in the "town square" have to say about it?

One, wouldn't that require Cumulus to buy or LMA KVOL? And two, unless Delta gets someone from KPEL-AM to jump ship, the only one they currently have in their stable is Prep TV host Danny Jones. I like him, but can he put the hurt on Pelloquin, Foote, Walker, etc....?

1071thegame.com was also registered at the end of April using the same hosting service. I hope Snap doesnt change or moves to 107.1.
Im still thinking 937 is gonna change too. There is some loophole they will use to change formats like perhaps playing rock music overnights or something to still classify the format as being the same.

Snap is the only station in recent memory that I can listen to for any length of time. They have renewed my faith that radio can still be adventurous. You truly never know what they may spin next and they dont just play only a song or two from each artist. They may not have the personalities of some of my favorite past stations, but they do a good gob overall. It will be ashamed to loose such a good station.
