I don't know why they'd switch 94.7 to news as they are currently doing well, but never assume that Cumulus won't make the wrong move. I mean Cumulus buying 101.1 FM for "News and Information" not flip 94.7. I know Cumulus 2 weeks ago said that they will sell 55 stations to cover the debt of the Citadel purchase. If they're trying to sell stations why would they buy 101.1?

ENERGY 101.1!!!
Now, seriously, could a 24/7 Dance station be feasible on a Class-B FM signal covering the entire metro and make money doing it? In what Top-20 market is a Dance station operating on a Class B or C signal (not rimshot) and doing well financially? I think NOT! Even WLUW, a non-comm., doesn't do Energy 24/7 like it did years ago! Dance should have been put on 87.7, though, and Alternative brought back to 101.1! "FM News" is destined to fail, WBBM Newsradio 780/105.9 is the market dominator in News!

Heck, dead air may do better....oh wait.

I would prefer to listen to a station of all bird songs over the junky news format on 101.1!

Ok guys! When the station first came on the air it was pretty nasty. A real joke. I must say in the last few months they have improved. However, I don't think Chicago needs another news station. I would like a dance, lounge sound (Sinatra and friends), soft ac (like WFEZ) or smooth jazz in place of the current format. However, if you are going to news, a national news outlet would be better. Their ratings are awful and by now they should of shown an upward climb. I guess Chicago likes it Newsradio 780. Just Sayin!

Newsradio 780 owns the Chicago news market. 101.1 has no chance. The sooner they realize it the better.
