88.3mhz in montreal area
« on: May 19, 2012, 05:11:08 PM »

Hi, I'm new to this board and registered at first to find a "new" station info.

Anyone in the Montreal area receive a station at 88.3mhz, broadcasting dance music since 12pm at least and only thing I ever ear is "Vous écouté DJ Julien Ricard" but they never play their "call sign" don't think they have one and it is probably a pirate station.

Have run with my car from Saint-jean-sur-richelieu to Boucherville, but nothing solid can be ear, only a few sec of signal sporadically.

If anyone have info or are able to receive it, your welcome

Could it possibly be college station CFAK 88.3 in Sherbrooke (with 785 watts)?

No I have verified with their online stream, and any legal station would announce their call sign at least every 30 minutes.

haven't found the edit button   Huh

The station seem to broadcast from saint-jean-sur-richelieu downtown or really close to it. I used my car to chase it a little bit and I began to ear inside the city and signal is getting stronger  in that direction. will try to find more info tomorrow. At least the music is really good and my XDR-F1HD proved me it is really sensitive Smiley

I wouldn't be 100% certain you'll get the callsign IDs...

but yes, I can't find any record of a legal station anywhere near Montreal on 88.3.  There are four legal 88.3s in Quebec:
- Radio-Canada at L'Annonciation & Amos
- the aforementioned Sherbrooke station
- CKIA Quebec City (350 watts and a low antenna, not likely to reach Montreal

Nothing in Ontario east of Paris.  Nor anywhere nearby in the U.S..

First of all, may I say "bienvenue ŕ Radio-Info, vitesse" Cheesy.

Secondly, I've just put 'two + two' together...I've visited your node @ Global Tuners on several occasions ~> http://www.globaltuners.com/receiver/155/   Merci, for being one of the selfless folks out there who make your valuable equipment available, for our listening pleasure on Global Tuners!

Thanks for the comment Smiley You are right, i'm the node operator of Globaltuners saint-jean receiver. Too sad the Korner antenna (15 elements beam) is in multiple pieces on the ground. It would have helped a lot to find the station.

Seem a great board for radio news.
