96.3 in Austin
« on: May 21, 2012, 11:26:32 AM »

G'day all,

I am here at Cedar Creek, I was listening to 1370 KJCE top of the hour ID, they were announcing K244CC for 96.3, I thought the calls were K287AY which used to be on 105.3, whats going on?

Is KJCE using an old top of the hour ID tape and behind the times?

Just looking for accurate information!

The new 96.3 frequency means that the translator must change its calls to match its new channel. But it should start with K242-- since channel 244 is 96.7.

Hey Rick,

Yes, you are correct Rick, the K287AY will need to change call letters to the new frequency allocation.
What is on 96.3 right at this time, the FFC database has a CP for 96.3, I assume this is on the air now since I am receiving a pretty good signal here, does anyone know what is the current call?

Just looking for clarification!

The current call sign on the FCC database is K287AY, although sometimes changes to the database are a little delayed.

My theory is that the station is getting assigned a new call sign due to the frequency change and someone goofed on the new ID you heard. Perhaps the new sign is K242CC.

Well, finally, the FCC database this morning now has K242CC listed on 96.3 from 105.3, so all is good.
Ryan Williams was right in his last post!!

Thanks
