NBC Sports Radio to start up in September
« on: June 11, 2012, 02:34:38 PM »

NBC and Dial Global have partnered up to create NBC Sports Radio, beginning this September.  They plan to broadcast hourly updates, daily features, and full-length shows.  They already are partners on NBC News Radio.

From the press release (I think this much is OK per fair-use rules):  “'Dial Global is excited to partner with NBC Sports Group to expand upon Dial Global’s live play-by-play platform. We are confident that with NBC’s sports assets, we will create a leading full service sports network and bring great sports audio to listeners across America,' said Spencer Brown, Co-CEO of Dial Global."

So does that mean that the current DG/Westwood One PxP broadcasts (such as the NFL games) will become a part of NBC Sports Radio or will that still be separate?

And who will affiliate, especially in markets that already have two or more of the major sports-radio networks already?
