Changes at WHOM
« on: May 22, 2012, 06:00:49 PM »

As of today, Tim Moore is gone.  WJBQ's Teddy McKay on mornings now, Sandra on 10a-3p, WJBQ's Meredith Manning VT 3p-7p.  Interesting lineup, to be sure.

Wasn't he operations manager too? I seem to remember addressing job applications to him back in the day.

Tim Moore was the programming and operations guy behind -- and in front of -- WJBQ and WHOM for quite a while.  Cumulus is considered by many to be a decent radio company, but here's another example where they screwed up big-time.  They never, ever should have let him leave.

If I recall correctly, WJBQ and WHOM were #1 and #2 12+ in the last Portland Arbitron.  Is that not good enough?  And the conventional wisdom in Portland is that it was Tim Moore who made it happen, not any consultant and not the corporate programming guys.

This is what happens when you let accountants run things:  "Ooooh!  Nice salary!  He's got to go!"

I long for the days when radio was run by radio people instead of bean counters.

Nationwide, they have cut dozens of their top people.   The good news for everyone else is, it's going to be easy to compete against these guys.  They're draining their own brains.

Not surprised. Tim is a smart guy and a talented one. Cumulus is an awful company that doesn't seem to respect its employees. Seems like simple math.

I will miss listening to him, and I'm sure his stations will miss his leadership.

Who are these MANY who consider Cumulus to ge a good radio company?  They are considered by MANY to be the absolute worst radio company to work for. THis is abvsolutely outrageous that Tim Moore has been let go. If I were Saga, I'd grab this guy in a heartbeat and put him in charge over there.

This may be the most insightful, smartest statement I have ever read on this board.

Thanks for forgiving my spelling. This just goes to show that performance DOESN'T matter with Cumulus. Programming both stations. Doing an AM shift on WHOM. And both stations performing magnificently. And you let the guy go?

As far as Saga is concerned, it has been stated on this board many times over that a change in leadership is probably needed there.  Who better to take on JBQ and HOM than the guy who knows them inside and out.

Maybe Tim just got burned out and quit? I can't imagine dealing with that kind of workload on top of corporate mandates like having Perez Hilton crammed down his throat at 'JBQ. At least he won't be around to take the rap when the Q's 7p-Mid numbers tank.
