There's so little talent in SoCal they've gotta find someone from Alaska?

Yikes.

Another hack who'll pronounce the road next to the 405 as Seppul-VEEda.

Does everybody down there still say "La Poo-enny" (La Puente) and "San Pee-dro" (San Pedro). Those two mispronuciations always drove me up the wall.

Rick Shaw is PD (The Orange County one, not to be confused with the SF or the Florida Rick Shaws). He should have an air shift.

When I first arrived in LA I took a call from someone who lived in La Puente and pronounced it "La Poo-ent-ee" and I was amazed they'd lived there all of their life. But as far as I know the way to say it is "Lah-pwent-ayy".  San Pedro was from what I'm told was originally pronounced the correct way, but an influx of European immigrants in the early 1900's changed that as they supposedly could only pronounce it "San-Pee-dro" and it stuck. When I'd just been here a month we got a commercial in from the east coast where the announcer called Costa Mesa "cost-uh-mee-suh". We got a laugh out of that one, and lets not even bring up La Caņada!

Always amazed me how people mispronounce these cities & towns, but I think it's that way everywhere... It's a jock's nightmare...

Some mispronunciations have been that way for years. Morena Blvd. in San Diego (a major thoroughfare) has been mispronounced by locals for as long as I can remember.  Tourists are constantly looking for Marina Blvd. (and there isn't one).

Any guesses how this Texas town is pronounced:  Mexia.

In Texas it is you-ston and in New York it is how-ston.

And in the bay area I once heard a jock talking about soo-sal-i-tow  Smiley
