I noticed there are some comments on 103.7 fm's facebook page from listeners in Beaumont and also Vidor this morning that they are no longer picking up 103.7.  I love this station and it's AAA format. Too bad that it's about to end. Sad
I keep hoping the deal won't be consummated.  Sad

I'm crossing my fingers too.

The AR in AR Licenses stands for Asset Recovery - the banks want to get paid. If these deals crater for any reason, the stations will go back on the block. The people programming the station no longer own it and don't get final say on anything.

As for the person who said that EMF won't do a LMA, don't forget that EMF did a LMA of WABB in Mobile before the deal closed. It all depends upon how the deal is written and the mood of the seller - and Cumulus is not the seller. We just don't know, and like a good broker, Larry Patrick is keeping the details to himself, so we won't know until something happens.

I think we can bag the wishful thinking, denial, and delusion.  Had enough of that with the KTRU sale, where the fanboys were still hoping against hope even as the keys were handed over to UofH.  This isn't Paraclete Ministries going after KCOH with no money in hand.

Whatever you think of the EMF formats, it is probably the best use of a rimshot in this market, unless another Spanish language format is launched to target Houston's heavily Hispanic east end, where the rimshot signals are competitive.  But we are probably at a saturation point for Spanish language formats for the time being.

Why couldn't it have been a Spanish language station going down instead of active rock?  Oh well - at least I like Air-1.  I just wish we hadn't had to trade something creative and good to get it.

I wonder if it is possible EMF is buying the station so they can improve it and try to sell it to KSBJ for NGEN?  NGEN will have a huge hole in coverage over North Harris county, 103.7 would cover half that hole.  They will need something else for Northwest, though.

EMF typically does not "buy" to "sell" ..unless they have something more powerful in the cards to replace "sold" with ... look for this one to stick with a EMF format =) If NGEN is to get a FP station in that part of the market.. It won't be from an EMF purchased station.

Still no application listed the FCC website for the sale of AAA 103.7 KHJK to EMF.
What is the holdup?

What is the holdup?

We'd all like to know.  Also, for what it's worth, there's been nothing filed with the FCC concerning the sale of KFNC to Gow.

Maybe better offers were received.

The bidding process was already over when the sales were announced, which means signatures on the dotted line.  Cumulus had their shot, as did everyone else.

These things take time to grind their way through the bureaucracy.  The sale of KTRU dragged on for nine months.  And the FCC online database is often slow to be updated.

Move along, nothing to see here.

A new tweet from Air1's PD suggests that something may happen within the next few days...
