MEGA 101 KLOL
« on: May 31, 2012, 05:00:39 AM »

I was looking at the job listings site for CBS.  Under Houston, they have a position open in the promotions department for KLOL Mega 101.  I almost fell out of my chair.  I thought KLOL was a Clear Channel station, basically KTRH-FM.  How did I miss this?  Did CC one of its legacy stations to CBS?
I do not get it?

It's actually old news. It's been that way for awhile now.

Clear Channel spun off KHMX, and KLOL to CBS Radio due to DOJ rules.

Clear Channel only owns the following Houston FM's KKRW, KTBZ, and KODA and AM's KBME, KTRH, and KPRC, maxed out at 6.

I thought the max was 8, unless you own a TV station in the same market and then it becomes 7.  I always thought that was so wrong, and I hope if Obama is re-elected they will change that.

The max is still 8, but the DOJ was going to sue to block Bain and THLP from buying Clear Channel if they didn't spin off two in Houston due to one or both of them also owning a significant stake in Univision.  They also had to divest a few stations in San Jose and their Spanish-language station in Las Vegas.  I believe one or both also agreed to divest any voting shares in either Cumulus Media Partners within a certain time frame.
