Memorial Day Weekend Specials
« on: May 25, 2012, 01:07:14 PM »

I wanted to list some of the specials this weekend that radio stations are running.  Of course, I'm rock bias but wanted to hear from others who monitor the country and urban stations to see if they were doing anything special.

The funniest thing is that the River and Rock 100.5 both are doing a 500 best rock songs of all time.  Yes, both stations started this morning with their on list.  I think the river's is more interactive since they were taking votes.

99x has the top 99 songs since 1999.  I'm sure that will repeat a few times over the weekend.

Rock 100.5 is definitely not constructed interactively.  Cumulus classic rock stations (i.e. I-95 in Savannah) have last songs played list nearly mirroring (is that even a word) each other.

Star94 is songs from 2k-Today: calling it the "Summer Kickoff Playlist"

Everybody says they hate Cumulus. Well, they did just launch an almost perfect All-News station in the ATL. Now that takes some skill. #GoMcVayAndDickey

Star has a good idea going on there.  Top 40 hits from the 80s and 90s are played.  Top 40 hits from the past few years are played but it seems we have forgotten about the 2001 to 2009 or so.  It was annoying when it came out but I'm beginning to miss Furgie singing about her humps!
