Journey isn't going to cut it. I already listened to them for 30-40 minutes and during that time it was all 80's and 90's. They only played two 80's songs I liked and your right about the 90's. The music of the 90's is what got me listening to Oldies and ever since then it's been my favorite format.

If Cumulus was smart they could have put AGH on 100.5.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that CBS will finally realize they could have better ratings with a Classic Hits format on 92.9. Trying to look at the bright side of things, at least we had AGH for 4 years as opposed to the two years we had Cool 105.7.

Doesn't this make us one of the only top 10 markets without Classic Hits/Oldies?

Technically, we still have a classic hits station.  Who knows, maybe the river will change names and start playing MOTOWN.  No one knows.

Everybody says they hate Cumulus. Well, they did just launch an almost perfect All-News station in the ATL. Now that takes some skill. #GoMcVayAndDickey

That will never happen in a million years! Cox couldn't wait to get rid of their oldies stations around the country so they could try to pass of The River & The Eagle stations as the "new" oldies format when in reality it's Classic Rock.

Sure, I liked them for about a week until I kept hearing the same songs 2-3 times a day.

I am just sick of people thinking oldies is a dead format, it is not.  Dave would be smart to do it as well, this station is a waste of power. So is 100.5 TRG's need to go, and sick of Burt and his cast of idiots.

Below is a link for PPM's Top Performers. Notice how well Oldies/Classic Hits stations rate:

Notice in the article where it states "Classic hits and oldies also received a huge boost, up 17.7% from 8.9 to 10.5"

Well, Andy Rose and Michelle Wright on All News 106.7 is the best Cumulus Atlanta morning show.  Period.

The way I understood it, Cumulus is going to have Journey 97.9 completely drop the 90s, concentrate exclusively on soft 70s/80s, and become the new place for "Atlanta's Greatest Hits"

The sound quality won't be like it was on 106.7, but I'm sure you'll get to hear all your favorite soft oldies/classics on Journey

I agree though that Cumulus should put AGH on 100.5, though, since the Classic Rock thing (competing with the River) obviously isn't working - 97.9 is still a very limited signal, and a lot of core oldies listeners live in towns which are further distances from ATL
