The bullet for Broken Hearted is back down to +409, and it's down 1 to #12 - also, it hasn't reached the Top 10 of ITunes

No way this is even going to be a contender for "Summer Song of 2012"

I believe "Call Me Maybe" has sealed its title as 2012's song of the summer. Nothing else comes or will come close.

Payphone looks like it's going to be just as big as Call Me Maybe

And by July, this looks like it's gonna be a huge #1 smash...

I have to agree on this one. Katy Perry will have HUGE success with this song. It's already climbing fast and the summer is only just beginning. Call Me Maybe (I personally don't see what all the hype is about this particular song, but anyway) is a strong contender as well as Payphone but I have a feeling Wide Awake has a chance at out performing both of them by the time summer is in full swing. Brokenhearted has already peaked, and is slowly on its way out. I don't get that being the song of the summer either.  Huh

If "Wide Awake" becomes the song of the summer, Katy Perry will have held the title in 2008 (I Kissed a Girl), 2010 (California Gurls) and 2012.  Thats quite an accomplishment.  For all the razzing of KP, and admittedly she doesn't have the best voice in the world, she sure can shatter chart records (or tie greats like Michael Jackson).

I really hope Wide Awake becomes the 2012 Song Of The Summer, especially because it marks Katy Perry's transition back to rock (or pop/rock I guess) - hopefully others will follow (both singers and producers)

True, but oddly the first time I heard the song was due to a friend of mine who posted a link to the Kaskade remix on SoundCloud- so there is an electro version out there.  It looks like the pop/rock version is doing well, though, so CHR's will probably play it and try to keep some "balance" at the format.

I guess it should also be noted that KP's previous two songs of the summer were about having a good time and/or being "adventurous", while "Wide Awake" is a much more personal, post-divorce song, as was her last song ("Part of Me").

Is Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" past its prime? I know it's not necessarily a "summer" hit, but I thought I'd throw that out since it is still a huge hit nonetheless.

We all know that the biggest song of Summer '11 was LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem". Does anyone know what the big song was in Summer '09?

According to Billboard, it was Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling"- which certainly a lengthy run atop the CHR charts as well.
