« on: June 07, 2012, 03:05:32 PM »

1st big test for all news 1067? Top story on their website: (HOUSTON) -- A Texas mother of six died after her 11-year-old daughter accidentally drove the family SUV over her in front of her other children, exposing the siblings to trauma that experts said will..

On WSB?:Breaking: 4 Shot, 2 Dead at DeKalb Funeral
DeKalb Police are investigating this hour reports of a shooting at a funeral at the Victory for the World Church on North Hairston Road.

and which station has superior on air coverage? Doesnt take a brain scientist to figure that one out.

You won't hear any disagreements from me on this.  While WYAY has a great quality, the content is not as good.

I think the news folks on CBS 46 look more attractive and the graphics are much cleaner than FOX or WSB but FOX and WSB are still number one because of the content and the legacy they hold.

WYAY has a lifespan of 2 years.... That is what I estimate.

They should stop advertising the website on the air.  It is a total loss since it has absolutely no local content.  It just duplicates Google or Yahoo news.

Granted, the world has changed since you could hear really good local news in Atlanta on WSB and WGST (then on 920). WSB Radio News didn't rely on pulling stories from the company owned newspaper or TV.it typically went the other way. TV and newspaper would monitor the radio station.

WGST also did a good job competing even though the odds were stacked against them. They did have the money press down the hall in the closet paying for everything (WPCH beautiful music).

I think WYAY all news is gonna help restore some of the local news standards on WSB. They haven't had any real radio competition for local news in a long while.

Local, local, local is the key. There are lots of places to get these national and regional stories but even in a market as large as Atlanta, there are limited sources to get local news.

This big story was treated has a headline.  No anchor setting the scene for us... describing what was going on.  Two very short telephone interviews played over and over.  Art is right.  It has to be the source for local.  Right now there is not a single story that every gets over 40 seconds.  Even TV goes over 40 seconds for the big story of the day.

They should have a breaking news mode.   Are they going to stick with that stupid time table during major severe weather???

I've enjoyed All News 106.7 so far, but one thing I heard made me laugh.  On their business report, Crystal Edmonson from the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported that a new restaurant has leased space at 1180 Peachtree Street.  She said the space was formerly occupied by the restaurant "Trois."  She pronounced it "Troy."

WSB Radio beating the new all news station on a big story just does not sit well.  WYAY has to be more than a wire reading service and 30 second actualities that they use as complete stories.

Yeah I heard that too. I guess she has never been in a Ménage à trois.
