Anybody Read About The New Strain Of Classic Rock Format?
« on: June 08, 2012, 06:35:40 AM »

I saw this today and I would love to know more.  Stations already doing it?  I'd like to listen to them.  Playlist?  What is the format called?  Are there charts for it published anywhere?

This from Inside Radio...

New strain of Classic Rock makes some noise.
With classic rock spanning four decades of music, a narrower strain of the format wedged between classic and mainstream rock is gaining steam in a handful of markets. It’s partially a demo play that will appeal to a new generation of classic rock fans. But the jury’s still out on whether it’ll be a quick burn, or a format that’s here to stay.

Apparently some of the bands are Sheepdogs, Alabama Shakes, Zeus, Yukon Blond.  Would love to know more.  Anyone?

Check them out on Spotify or another music service.  I listened and though I'm not in love with them by any means, their music is interesting.  Kinda reminds me of some of the sounds of Album Rock in the 1968-1973-74 period.  Keeping in mind this definition of Classic Rock is changing to include new music (AOR).
