Some of you guys or gals that have worked boards since everything has gone to computer, enlighten me, if you will..What software do most stations use..?? I'm vaguely familiar by name only with NEX-GEN.  Looking online I see hundreds of options as far as playlist/spot scheduling go..Most look really confusing and overkill to me..but since I've never had to deal with it..maybe all of the options are needed. I understand the need to load everything to play at a certain time when no one is there..and for up to a week in advance..Is there one piece of software that is simple, and stands way above all others >>> Thanks..

you might take a look at Player 101 from RCS.  sort of Nexgen light...they call it 101 because many of the options you might want are $101.  base price was about 595 last time I looked at it. depends on what you want it for... or look at www.statioplaylist.com.  maybe it will work for you.

At my station we use the updated version of Scott Studios called Wide Orbit.  Not a bad platform and for less money than NexGen.

Nexgen is great. RCS is great to work with.. However if budget is a concern, there is always something like BSI's Simian.. While not as pretty as Nexgen or Wide Orbit, can run really well if given some time to work with it.
