If used with one of those digital converter boxes the US government was subsidizing several years ago, an analog TV receiver tuned to Ch 2 or 3 will display a rather noise- and ghost-free 4:3 picture from OTA pickups of DTV stations.

I'm using that setup on a basement TV I seldom watch, to save the cost of a cable box.

Those converter boxes are a hot ticket at the Walmart in the "Mexican" area of south Nashville.  They can't keep them on the shelves.
