KRIV-Houston expanding newscasts in July

KRIV, the Fox O&O in Houston, is expanding it's news presence significantly on the weekends.

For decades the station has made due with a single 9pm newscast, but starting July 7th:

- Fox 26 Morning News Weekend debuts from 5 - 8 am Saturday & Sunday (promos are already running announcing the expansion). 

- Fox 26 News at 5:00 debuts.

The move follows similar expansions by other Fox O&Os around the country.

He meant only on the weekends, which is true.

But i bet its just going to be the same crap they try to do on the 9pm news the night before.

Fox 10 Phoenix started Saturday mornings from 8am to 10am earlier this year.  The nice thing is that they can do live shots from various events held around the Phoenix area.  It is, however, a VERY light and breezy newscast.  Currently, Fox 10 Phoenix doesn't do a Sunday morning newscast.

Is Ford Atkinson & Andrea Watkins still working for FOX 26? Well I hope they could play a strong part for FOX 26 Weekends.

Both report for the weekday morning news (Ford does occassional fill-in anchoring), but neither are shifting to weekends.  Weekday reporter Sally McDonald is anchoring the show with John Dawson pulling double duty with weather.
