WTG Andy Furman
« on: June 15, 2012, 11:19:56 AM »

Sincere congratulations to Andy Furman on his success with FOX sports radio. He was gigged by WLW but he's back on his feet and building a national audience while Clear Channel Cincinnati hires current and former studio producers to fill air time on the sports-talk shows.

The guy just makes everyone around him better. He knows how to tease a little controversy and he has a wealth of experience in sports talk and sports promotions with a huge Rolodex of contacts in the industry. The morning show is hilarious because his co-host and producer can't even tell when he is serious and when he is ginning up debate for the sake of entertainment.

WLW crapped on him, he crapped on WQRT..... Hopefully, the crappiness will stop...

How did he crap on WQRT?  I thought you had posted earlier he gave you a one month notice, plus he wasn't under contract.  Ohio is an "at-will" state.  That's where your studios are.  I've had to live with this CRAP for 17+ years as a Dairy Queen store owner.  Forget it and move on.  By the way, your company got several thousand $ from me that you wouldn't have gotten because of him.  I was one of his first sponsors.

Savage needs to be LIVE at 6 or 7 PM and repeated at noon, and get rid of Dennis Miller and put on Clark Howard.
Thanks jry.  I always like to see your posts.

Furman went onward and upward....1160 is merely a stepping stone to better things. It will never be anything more. Typical ungraciousness to sponsors from ownership.
That's how 1160 rolls. Furman is the best talk show host in the REGION. Mostly, because he's NOT from Cincinnati. Don't waste your $ advertising on 1160.

It had nothing to do with his exodus.....
I agree on your idea with Savage. I am mindful of the signal challenges after dark.
I've been told that the audience at large doesn't care about the delayed airing. There is a lot of data out there that
shows he does well delayed at Noon. This comes from reviewing the sizable chunk of stations that airs him at Noon.

Furman is the single best broadcast talent in this town, by a factor of ten. If he has any fault, it's holding back to let the people around him get in their two cents worth...proof of a generous character, but a problem because we'd all rather hear what Andy has to say.

No doubt that Andy is exceptional. Quick on his feet and funny.
The best by a factor of ten? Well, that is pretty generous of you.

Sorry, but I can't agree on Furman. I turned off WLW when he was on the air. He would change his viewpoint from day to day... hell, minute to minute, to try and drive callers. No different than any of the other sh#t stirrers at WLW where they just want to get people pissed off, not actually draw an intelligent discussion. I'm no fan of Lance McAllister either... it has been a very long time since Sports Talk was worth a damn on WLW.
