No Rock 1045 this month?
« on: June 15, 2012, 12:26:52 PM »

Looking at the PPM monthlies for May, I noticed WFYV didn't show up this month. Are they not encoding for this station any more?

Cox may not be a subscriber. Arbitron doesn't release the ratings for station that don't subscribe anymore. Did WAPE or WOKV get printed?

There was probably a glitch on the R.I. page such as not having all the numbers by deadline. According to All Access, WFYV earned a 3.4 share (6+) for the month of May. Still, there are a few inconsistencies. R.I. indicates Jax as market #49 while A.A. lists Jax as #50. One has the Rock 104-5's current format as "classic rock" and the other just"rock." I don't know what is correct, perhaps someone can clarify.

You're right, looks like a glitch (seems to happen a lot on R-I, AllAccess not so much) Looking at Rock 1045, I'm curious if or when they will make the switch to a "hot talk" type format like COX did in Tampa to The Bone or perhaps put WOKV on 104.5 giving them full market FM coverage. It all depends on revenue, so they have to weigh could they make MORE money with either one of those flips. I don't have access to current billing nor research so they may be doing just fine as is.

This has been discussed ad nauseum.  Hot Talk has failed both (or the three?) times prior it has been tried in Jax.  The Tampa experiment from what I can tell is not faring that well either.  Keep in mind that 104.5 & 102.9 are two distinct rock formats (active & alternative). The failure of one is not necessarily a result of the other doing better.  One of the big misreads in the demise of Planet, IMO.  WOKV covers the full, metered market as is on 106.5 & 690, so I fail to see the wisdom in taking it to a class C stick.
