Can anyone verify the rumor that Clear Channel Montgomery is about to flip formats at 1 or all of their stations?
Someone on that site and I was wondering if this rumor had any truth to it?

I sure as hell hope so... all 3 of them are in the Top 5 in Revenue and Ratings... would be very nice for them to throw that all in the toilet and start over.

Now for the latest on that rumor from Clear Channel.
Sometime before the Fall, 104.3 HallelUjah FM and Magic 97.1 wilL switch frequencies. CC wants to use urban Listening in Montgomery to test hOw efFectively it can get listeners to adopt iHeartRadio on their smartphones/tablets–partIcularly for the adult listeners to Hallelujah FM. It’s spent years on a big signal, with devoted audience supporT despite not billing to its full potential. The thinking is that local ad integration through iHeartRadio (similar to a way that Pandora is doing in some places) might be a better way to monetize the station.

I chuckled when this thread came up, but with RDP's latest post, it actually makes some sense. I've heard on this board numerous times that urban and gospel are both "big listen, little ad support" type formats, so it may be logical to put the gospel on the lower-cost signal and move urban to the big stick to maximize its exposure.
I don't normally associate listeners of either format with streaming radio, though. Maybe CC sees growth potential there for iHeartRadio.

I know you guys are much more plugged in and worldly than me.. but this doesn't make any sense. Are you saying to switch the signals to improve ratings and revenue? They both have about an 8-10 share in ratings... and little less (but still respectable) in revenue. And.. I don't follow how changing the frequencies will improve the Iheart deal...are you saying it's important to the success of Bob Pittman's project that he reach more traditional Urban listeners in Camden and Brantley?.. as opposed to what they have now. Not sure if you have looked, but there is a lot of listener duplication between the two stations.
Again, sounds bizarre to me.. but how would I know? I try to spend my time trying to add more coal to the little engine that could...
