I have just been listening to some of the oldies stations around the country, why in the F can't Atlanta have a station like Majic 105.7 Cleveland, 103.3 St Louis, 3WS Pittsburgh, KOOL 108 MPLS? It is embarrassing what our radio dial sounds like. We all know DAVE is a F"ing disaster along with the River, B98.5, Rock 100.5? Come on ATL deserves better than this shTT
Majic 105.7 in Cleveland is one of the best! Why does CC have so many successful stations around the country and here in ATL all of their stations s**k?

I think AN106.7 is going to flop. The audio sounds like crap, there are tons of errors, and it's clear the traffic reports don't know Atlanta. If your product is NOTHING BUT news/weather/traffic, you need to do it right. Engineering is asleep at the wheel or outsourced to India.
Content is what sells, and I'd be surprised if they pull anything more than a .2 share. No, I don't want them to fail, but quite frankly it sounds half-arsed. AGH had potential, but as is the norm in corporate conglomerate radio, it's all about cheap skating it these days.
If the Cloud Company is attempting to unseat Cox or even put a dent into GST, this isn't the way to do it. They've got some top dog talent on there, but the imaging is poor, audio sounds like a pirate station, and they've missed the ball on some local news. When the 22 year old drowned in Vinings a couple weekends ago, WSB was on it as fast as CCFD was calling for the dive team. AN106.7 didn't have the story on air until 2 DAYS later. What was on there? The same ABC network news you can get anywhere else.
The Telecom Act of 96 worked out real well for us. Thanks Bill Clinton. (even the stations in Arkansas don't suck this bad)

and Dave FM...the 80's rewind is actually good, have to give them credit where credit is due. Lots of deep tracks, not the same boring top 20 washouts like Journey.
Dave has a GREAT sounding signal that reaches far and wide. And some top talent. If they had focus, there is NO REASON why a K-EARTH or CBS101 would NOT pull numbers in this market. But what do WE know. We're not INSULTANTS and radio suits. Just listeners who are under served, and as much as we DON'T want to, we are tuning out radio for Internet, even paying for sat radio and suffering with it's crappy compressed audio to get the CONTENT we want.

The rumor has been All Sports on 92.9. CBS is doing sports on FM very successfully in Detroit, Boston, Philadelphia and Baltimore, all markets I associate with avid fans more so than Atlanta.
But of course it's just a rumor. Who knows what will really happen?

You said it. Atlanta isn't a sports town. Period. Sports on FM is illogical for this market. G

I doubt it would work here, maybe if they got the Braves radio carriage, don't they already carry the Falcons? Sports talk, don't we already have 790 and 680? Doesn't one of them have a translator on FM now? I personally think it would be a waste of a great sounding signal. The CE at 92.9 has been there for years, and he has a great sounding plant for music. I guess they would just move "Dave" to HD2, and maybe move "Dave roots" to HD3....

I have to agree with you about the 80's rewind. Wish MAX 105.3 would have been like that when they were 80's. When it comes to the 60's & 70's, it seems like everywhere I go that's what you hear as background music. I went to a Dunkin' Donuts this morning and in the background they were playing "1, 2, 3 Red Light" by the 1910 Fruitgum Co. and my first thought was "OH WOW I can't remember when the last time was that I heard this song!". Go to You Tube and look up some of the songs you don't hear on the radio anymore and look at some of the comments.

CBS just announced it's flipping its Hot AC in Tampa to sports in August. They are basically moving their AM sports talker to FM. And yes, I'd say Tampa could well be a better sports town than Atlanta. But it's another flip, and in the southern U.S...

Tampa is far from a better sports town than Atlanta, Atlanta is not great because of all the transplants and fair weather fans, but Tampa is far worse, believe me. If Dave go to sports that will be it for me on local radio.
