Matthews vs. Pollack Broadcasting
« on: June 19, 2012, 03:30:04 PM »

What happened in Thaddeus Matthews' arbitration case versus Pollack broadcasting?  I notice he hasn't mentioned the case in over a week.

In addition, he says someone is starting a new television station in Memphis. Do you guys see any FCC applications for a TV station locally?

No one know?  No one care?  I think I've read many opinions of Mr. Matthews before and no one has any idea what happened in arbitration?

Well I've been listening to his web show and he has mentioned getting things together to get back to radio in addition to doing a TV show in October.  I guess he means holler for a dollar on radio. But who can he buy time from now that he has burned more bridges than an arsonist?

exactly... He was kicked off and removed from stations as long as I've lived in the area.

Judgement on him from 1600 - http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/USCOURTS-tnwd-2_04-cv-02947/pdf/USCOURTS-tnwd-2_04-cv-02947-4.pdf

He was let go from 990 KWAM
WTCK-AM 1210
1430 WNWZ: Locked himself into 1430. I will quote Thaddeus directly after he tried to tell me I had the details wrong. "The year was 1993 and yes I had an LMA on 1430. Yes we ran out of money, but came up with it after going through the courts."

Thaddeus told me previously I had the facts all wrong but anyone in Radio in Memphis knew the facts. Here is is the story told in the Flyer
http://www.memphisflyer.com/memphis/politically-incorrect/Content?oid=1110980

1240 WAVN:
"After WNWZ's failure, Matthews landed at WAVN-AM 1240 in Southaven, where he did a blues program and another version of Express Yourself. Matthews, who was also working for N.J. Ford Funeral Home at the time, says Harold Ford Sr. demanded his dismissal from the station after Matthews put the parents of a young man involved in a shooting on the air and revealed information he had learned at the funeral home. Ultimately, the show was canceled."

and finally the most recent situation with 1180 WPLX now KXIQ

just go search the court records for yourself

Any question?

What I don't understand is why any broadcaster would do business with Thaddeus.  After his failures at 1430, 1210, 1240. 1600 etc. why did the folks at KWAM and WPLX
allow him on the air?

I guess they figure if they can get 2 or 3 months of actual money from him then that is cash they wouldn't have but you'd have to know that it was going to end up badly and one of these days one of these "broadcasters" is going to run into FCC license trouble.

When a station owner literally goes and cuts the feed-line to the tower to take him off the air because he is locked inside and won't hand the station over that should have been the end.

Well, I wish my old buddy Thaddeus would let us all in on the latest with that mean old Pollock trying to cheat him and not let him broadcast the wonderful, clean, tasteful, show good old Thaddeus had on. It's a shame that Thad "always be put down by the man" either this one or another.
C'mon someone, what's the skinny on the old arbitration going on? Is it over yet? Any decision? Does Thad get the station??
Why, if I still ran a station I'd let Thaddeus have a show on anytime. He has been put down and downtrodden for too long. I know the Lord is on his side. Why just the other day I was saying, "Lord Satan, please let our brother Thad back on the radio to do your bidding" and right then I felt old Scratch telling me that Thaddeus will have a chance to cause trouble and create havoc somewhere special in Memphis radio one more time.

I'll drink to that or anything lately
