y'know...BBBMan may have a point.  It would not be unlike the Dicks to have a faux firing, but given the money they've poured into the Murphy in the Morning Show my bet it's for real.  That's how they roll at DBC, make them tons of moolah and when it gets to the point that you are making good $, they pull the plug and hire someone who'll do the same job for less $.  Kinda like THEY taught Clear Channel how to do it!

Local media ain't biting.....

But who the hell cares? I think Max Meeks retiring was the last time any paper or TV station actually gave two craps about Triad radio....I remember reading a piece about Bill Flynn (remember him?) going to Clear Channel then Clear Channel flipped morning shows 7 times in 1 year so they saw how stupid it was to report on that.

If a nobody hears a radio station change morning shows....does that mean it ever existed??? Huh Huh

Nobody is reporting it because of the cut-throat attitude that has fallen upon the news/entertainment business. Remember when the Newspapers used to have an Entertainment column, complete with rumors and sightings of both local TV and radio personalities. Gone with fedora wearing reporter.

Now days, unless the personality died, there is rarely a mention of what is now considered the competition without a contract and consideration (trade or cash).

smells like a stunt to me.

i mean, if it were the real deal, wouldn't the entire morning show be gone?

don't forget the "suspension" of october 2008.

100% stunt.

WXII interviewed Murphy this morning. He said he was fired.
If it's a stunt he's getting a lot off attention.

It's bad when you have to question whether a radio host was really fired or if it's just a ratings stunt.

It's bad when the station ignores it on air completely while listeners call them out for their shadiness on their Facebook site.

It's also bad when personalities, who have connected with communities for decades, aren't allowed to even say goodbye.

Just more proof why commercial radio in the US is a joke and irrelevant.

Research is showing that "morning drive" is not the important time slot it use to be and KZL has been dropping numbers across the board for some time.  The station is a mere shadow of what it use to be and do not feel you can put that on Jack's back!  One show cannot support the entire station since there was as much difference in the morning show and the other day parts as there is between day and night!

The Greensboro New & Record finally reported this devastating story in this morning's (6/27) edition. Here's a link to the comments if anyone's interested.
